Dear Mr Kang,
If a minor under 18 years of age travels with both parents, father and mother, an unabridged birth certificate or an equivalent document should be produced to an immigration official at South African ports of entry when entering into or departing from the Republic of South Africa.
In South Africa, an unabridged birth certificate (UBC) is an extract from the Birth Register containing the particulars of a minor and those of his or her parent or parents. In the case of countries that do not issue UBCs, an ‘Equivalent Document’ containing the particulars of the child and his or her biological parents, issued by the competent authority of that country or an embassy of the country may be used instead of an UBC. For a Korean national child, a family relations certificate issued to each child as ‘self’ can be considered as the equivalent document of UBC in South Africa.
Please note that any document issued in foreign language should be translated into English by a sworn translator. If you cannot find a sworn translator in Korea, an authorised translator with the license may translate the original document and take it to a notary public to notarise the documents at any notary office in Korea registered and enrolled to practice as a notary by law. All the documents produced at a port of entry must either be originals or certified copies of the originals.
